Firebase.

Privacy Policy

Masar is a daily puzzle: a grid you draw one continuous path through, visiting every cell exactly once. This page explains what the app collects, why, who it goes to, and how to have it deleted.

The app is free and ad-supported. We do not ask for an email address, a phone number, or an account, and we do not sell your data.

The short version

  • You never create an account. Sign-in is anonymous, through Firebase.
  • What appears on the leaderboard is a name you choose and your solve time.
  • Ads use your device advertising identifier, and you can control that.
  • You can have everything deleted with one email.

1. What we collect

An anonymous identifier. On first launch, Firebase Authentication creates an anonymous account and assigns it a random id. That id is not your name or your email, and it is not linked to any account you hold anywhere else. It is the only way the server knows two results came from the same player.

The name you choose. After your first solve the app asks for a name to show beside your time on the leaderboard. You type it, and it is public to other players. Do not put anything in it you would not want seen.

Your results. When you solve a daily puzzle, the following is sent to our database: the name you chose, your solve time, how many hints you used, the path you drew, a country code inferred from your device settings (for example SA), and the time of submission. The path is sent because the server re-checks that it genuinely solves the puzzle — that check is what makes the leaderboard mean anything.

Your streak. How many consecutive days you have solved, your total solved, and the date of your last solve. Kept on your device and copied to your anonymous account so it survives a reinstall.

Usage data. We use Firebase Analytics to see what is used, what is not, and what breaks. The events are aggregate and do not carry your name — for example, an event is recorded when a result fails to reach the server, along with the reason. Standard device and app information accompanies these events: model, operating system, language, approximate country, and app version.

Advertising data. We show ads through Google AdMob with AppLovin MAX mediation. These services use device advertising identifiers — the Advertising ID on Android and the IDFA on iOS — together with your IP address, device type, and data about how you interacted with an ad, in order to select and measure ads and to prevent fraud.

2. Why we collect it

3. Ads and your consent

Before any personalised ad is shown, the app presents a consent screen using the Google UMP SDK. If you decline, you still see ads, but non-personalised ones — chosen from general context rather than an interest profile.

You can change your mind at any time:

4. Who it is shared with

We do not sell or trade your data. It passes through these service providers only:

We may also disclose data where the law requires it.

5. Where it is stored

Your results and streak are stored in Cloud Firestore in the European Union (eur3), and the validation functions run in europe-west1. This means your data is transferred out of your country and processed on Google's servers, and may be processed by Google and AppLovin in the United States and elsewhere.

6. How long it is kept

7. Your rights and deletion requests

You may request a copy of your data, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it entirely.

How to request deletion

Email with the subject "Data deletion".

Because the account is anonymous, we cannot identify you from your email address. Include the name shown on the leaderboard and roughly which day you solved, and we will use those to find your record. If we cannot verify it, we will not delete — deleting the wrong person's record is worse than not deleting.

The fastest and most complete route is entirely in your hands: delete the app. That erases everything held on the device and permanently severs the anonymous account from you.

8. Children's privacy

Masar is not directed at children, and we do not knowingly collect data from anyone under 13 (or under the age set by your country's law, where that is higher). The app is rated for a general audience in both stores, not for a children's category, and contains no child-directed experience.

If you are a parent or guardian and find that your child has given us data — a display name being the likeliest — write to and we will remove it.

9. Security

Traffic to the server is encrypted, and the database rules stop any player from reading, altering, or writing in place of another player's results. No system is perfectly secure, but what is stored here is deliberately little: no email, no phone number, no precise location, no payment details.

10. Changes to this policy

If it changes, the "Last updated" date at the top of this page changes with it, and we will say so in the app if the change is material.
